How To Rebuild A Cadillac Water Pump
Classic Cadillacs
The water pump, which is a very important factor in how the engine operates, may need to be rebuilt or replaced over time due to rust build up or excessive use. Luckily, Caddy Daddy has Cadillac water pump rebuild kits available for a variety of years and this video to help you out with your project.
In this video, Josh will show you how to take a used 1959 Cadillac water pump and rebuild it with the parts available from Caddy Daddy. You need to make sure the new flange is in the same location when you replace the old one, so be sure to measure the distance first, if you are removing it.
Here are the steps:
1. Remove the cover plate
2. Remove the impeller and seal
3. Press the old bearing out of the housing with the flange
4. Clean up the housing
5. Press the new bearing into the housing with the flange
6. Install the seal with the impeller, along with a new gasket
7. Reattach the cover plate
This is a fairly large project to take on, but if you have the right tools and the time, this video will help guide you in making that water pump function correctly again once you install it back in your Caddy.
Enjoy!
